Our Welfare vet clinics offer the following services to eligible registered customers:
Vet services at our vet surgery include
- Vaccinations for Dogs, Cats and Rabbits
- Neutering for Dogs, Cats and Rabbits
- Microchipping of Dogs and Cats – and we sometimes advertise and hold “snip and chip” clinics
- Nail trimming
- Expressing Anal Glands
- Dental check ups, plus scale and polish or extractions as required
- Basic blood tests
- X-Rays
- Ultrasounds
- Veterinary consultation for illness, injury, regular health checks and basic surgical procedures
- Flea and worm treatment for registered customers
Note that some of these services may require a vet appointment but simple procedures such as nail trimming may be carried out by one of our fully qualified vet nurses
Services we cannot currently provide:
At present we cannot provide items from the list below but can provide a referral to another vet who will charge you directly:
- Veterinary home visits
- Overnight hospitalisation of animals
- Intravenous fluid therapy (overnight treatment)
- Emergency surgery (case dependent)
Eligibility Criteria to use a Welfare Vet Clinic
The branch offers a welfare clinic for pet owners in the Branch area who fulfil the following eligibility criteria:-
- You will be in receipt of a means tested benefit
- You live within our catchment area
- You should be a tenant and receive housing benefit
- You will not be using any animals for breeding purposes of any kind
- You can register a maximum of 2 animals at your address with our clinic
- You will have your dogs / cats neutered and microchipped within 6 months of registration
- You must be in receipt of one of the following: Incapacity Allowance, Income Support, means tested JSA/ESA/Universal Credit, (which must be accompanied by Housing benefit which must be in the same name as benefit) or State Pension along with housing benefit.
- You must bring proof of eligibility to each appointment to receive the welfare prices

The Colchester Vet Clinic
The Colchester clinic provides vet services for pet owners in the east of our branch area (Colchester through to the coast at Clacton and Harwich). However, clients can opt to choose the most convenient of our two vet surgeries for initial registration.
