Are you passionate about people, animals, and your local community?

The RSPCA Essex Mid & North Branch is not just an animal charity; we are a vital community support service. As an independent branch, we provide “at-cost” veterinary care to low-income families, ensuring that no pet owner has to face the heartbreak of being unable to afford essential treatment.

We are looking for a dedicated Veterinary Receptionist to join our Colchester team. You will be the first point of contact for our clients, providing a professional, empathetic, and non-judgmental “front-of-house” service.

The Role

This is a busy, rewarding role where no two days are the same. Your responsibilities will
include:

  • Greeting Clients: Managing arrivals with a friendly face and ensuring a calm atmosphere in the waiting room.
  • Clinical Support: Handling phone inquiries, scheduling appointments, and performing basic triage to identify emergency cases.
  • Financial Administration: Processing payments, verifying eligibility for our subsidised services (Universal Credit/Benefits), and managing daily accounts.
  • Communication: Acting as the vital link between our clients and the clinical team (Vets and Nurses).

Professional Development

We believe in investing in our staff. As part of this role, you will become a member of the
British Veterinary Receptionist Association (BVRA). We actively encourage and support
Continued Professional Development (CPD) through online learning, helping you work
towards becoming a Registered Veterinary Receptionist (RVR).

About You

  • Experience: Previous experience in a veterinary, medical, or high-level customer
  • service role is desirable.
  • Skills: You must have exceptional communication skills, a patient temperament, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Values: You should be empathetic and discreet, understanding the financial and emotional stresses our clients may be facing.
  • Reliability: As a small, dedicated team, we need someone who is punctual and committed to our clinic’s mission

How to Apply

If you want to make a real difference to the lives of animals and people in our Branch area,
we would love to hear from you.
