
Shop Assistant
Our charity shops are always looking for volunteers to join small teams working with the shop manager to help make it a success, raising vital funds to enable us to provide animal welfare services.
Our charity shops are busy and you will be mainly dealing with customers, taking money and sorting through donated goods.
This is a great way of meeting people whilst knowing that you are supporting animal welfare locally.

Clinic Administration Assistant
We have two busy welfare clinics, one in Chelmsford and one in Colchester. We are sometimes looking for volunteers to help on Reception.
Our receptionists are often the first point of contact that members of the public have with the branch, so creating a great first impression is essential. You will need to be friendly and helpful, whilst remaining calm under pressure and developing the knowledge to help with a diverse range of questions.

Fundraising Volunteer
As a fundraising volunteer, you will play a vital role assisting in fundraising activities, which will help the branch to provide it vital animal welfare work locally.
There are many and varied opportunities to participate, including to
- Organise, advertise, and promote fundraising activities to raise vital funds to improve animal welfare.
- Plan and participate in organised events for fundraising over an agreed period.
- Communicate all planned activities with staff and other volunteers.
- Work alongside other volunteers, staff, and members of the public, ensuring excellent customer service at all times.
- Ensure best practice in fundraising and that it is legally compliant.

Cat Fosterer
As a cat fosterer you will be providing a calm and loving home for cats that come into our care, whilst they wait for their purr-fect forever home.
We are looking for experienced cat owners who can provide a temporary loving environment, whilst tending to their welfare needs such as feeding and grooming.
Once everything is in place we will guide you through the fostering process and ensure that you have all the necessary equipment, food and veterinary care for your foster.

Become a Trustee
Our Branch is run by a committee of volunteer trustees, who are responsible for managing the affairs of the branch.
We are looking for committed, hands-on volunteers who share our passion for animal welfare.
You will have a direct influence on how we care for animals locally and will be able to use your expertise to support and develop the services we offer.
Although we are an animal welfare charity, the majority of the committee’s work is business focused, covering areas such as Health & Safety, Human Resources and Fundraising. We would therefore particularly welcome applications from individuals with experience in these areas.

Charity Shop Driver
Can you help our shops get items from A to B? We’re looking for a volunteer who can dedicate time and their vehicle to collect donations and deliver goods. You would play a vital role in helping us raise funds to support our animal welfare work.
Volunteer drivers play an essential part in the operation of our shops since they are responsible for collecting and delivering items of donated stock and moving stock between shops.

Box Secretary
We are looking for a volunteer to take on this role not only to help us gather the donations that we have received but also to look at how we can maximise the future revenue we generate so we can help more animals in need.
As a volunteer Box Secretary, you will be responsible for the promotion and administration of the Branch’s collection box network. You would help us maximise the funds that we generate for the Branch which support our crucial animal welfare work.
You would be home-based or based at one of our shops or clinics in Colchester, Chelmsford, Frinton or Maldon.

Events Coordinator
Our Branch Events Coordinators are vital in helping us raise the funds we need to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome or release thousands of animals each year!
This is an excellent volunteering opportunity which would enable you to play a major role in our fundraising activities, really put your flair into the role, and gain a vast amount of personal satisfaction and achievement in return.

Supermarket Collectors
We are looking for friendly volunteers to help fundraise in supermarkets and other outlets to collect vital donations that enable us to continue our animal welfare work. The more volunteers we have and funds we can raise, the more animals we can help!
In this role, you will be the friendly face of the RSPCA, helping us raise funds for our branch in local supermarkets and similar outlets.

Social Media Coordinator
This is an excellent volunteering opportunity for somebody who wants to enhance and develop their digital and social media skills whilst helping animals in need.
As a volunteer Social Media Coordinator, you would play a massive part in ensuring that our branches activities are promoted online whilst creating a positive public profile on social media. You would play a significant role in gaining more awareness and support for animal welfare and helping us come to the aid of more animals in need.

Area Champion
Do you have a passion for animal welfare? We are looking for a friendly individual who can help us to spread the word about the RSPCA’s goals and values in their local community. This is an excellent opportunity for you to have a voice about how we could be more present in your community.
This is a key volunteer role where you will be responsible for spreading the word about the activity of our branch. You would be able to meet new people as you would be liaising with the local community to make them aware of our goals, values, and campaigns.
You would be home Based in various locations of Essex including Billericay, Braintree, Brentwood, Chelmsford, Clacton, Colchester, Halstead, Harwich, Maldon & Witham.
