The trustees are responsible for guiding the direction of the charity, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, and managing our finances. Alongside them, the staff working in our branches, clinics and charity shops play a key role in supporting the animals and community we serve.

We are proud to have strong partnerships with rehoming centres and other organisations, which help with the intake and rehoming of animals from the public and RSPCA Inspectors.

The Committee meets monthly to ensure everything runs smoothly and that our work continues to make a difference for animals in need. Many of our trustees can be seen at events, in clinics, or at rehoming centres and they are always happy to connect with the community they serve.

Ruth

Chair & Trustee

I have been a trustee for several years now and love it.

I have had dogs (mainly Staffies and Bassets) and horses most of my life whilst working as a project manager in various offices. Since retiring I have been able to follow my passion for animals and volunteer at both the Danaher Animal Home to walk dogs, and the RSPCA branch to assist with animal welfare and rehoming. I love being able to help the animals and see them going off to their new homes and then seeing updates later about their progress. I do also occasionally foster dogs.

Many of my dogs, both past and present are featured on this website to help other rescue dogs get homes.

Brigitte

Trustee

Being a Trustee is a flexible role and fits comfortably around my daily life.  I like being able to contribute in my own way, at my own pace, while still being part of something meaningful and helping make a difference.

I love animals and enjoy being able to ‘do my little bit’ to help.

Fiona

Trustee

I have been a life long animal lover – Currently living with 1 dog, 4 cats, 2 fish and 10 chickens as well as my human family.
I joined the RSPCA many years ago as it seemed to be some small way I could help animals.  It seemed a natural progression then to become a Trustee about 8 years ago when I wanted to do more to support the Charity and the amazing work it does.

Susan

Trustee

As a veterinary surgeon, having owned and run my own referral practice (now retired), I have always
had a strong interest in animal welfare, especially in ensuring access to veterinary care. The RSPCA
was the obvious charity for me to volunteer with in view of their long history for caring for any
animal in need.

This motivated me to volunteer as a Trustee with the Mid Essex Branch in 2018. I have continued as a Trustee since the merger with North Essex Branch. My main interest is in supporting the two welfare clinics run by the Branch.

I am extremely proud of the work carried out by the staff of both clinics in delivering affordable veterinary care to those most in need. We plan to continue this work and commitment to animal welfare.

Stephen

Trustee

I am an experienced Human Resource professional with a background spanning several industries.

I have always been an animal lover, particularly cats, and have rescued 5 cats to date. I felt that my leadership skills, HR and governance knowledge would be useful in helping the North and Mid Essex RSPCA define and achieve their strategic goals.

Rachel

Trustee

I care deeply about animal welfare, which is why I joined the RSPCA Essex Mid & North Branch board—to play a part in preventing animal cruelty and ensuring every animal in Essex is treated with kindness and respect.

With over 16 years of experience in marketing, including 9 years in the charity sector, I specialise in strategic planning, marketing communications, fundraising, and community engagement. I’m passionate about using these skills to contribute to the vital work the board does to make a real difference for animals in need.

Robert

Trustee

I care profoundly about animal welfare and I’m honoured to serve the Mid & North Essex community.
Prior to joining the RSPCA, I had the phenomenal opportunity to support animal rescue in seven countries over the last thirty years.
My background in critical care nursing, and as a healthcare executive, has equipped me with vast experience of teamwork, dedication, strategic planning, and most importantly, a deep commitment for advocating for those without a voice.

Meaghan

Trustee

I’m a big believer in really thinking through the practical welfare of our pets.

I love animals (of course, everyone here does!) and my love language is service, in the form of work behind the scenes.

It’s been amazing to help animals using my skills and experience as a lawyer, and I’m so blessed to serve as a trustee here working alongside such amazing and dedicated people.
