Welcome to the RSPCA Essex Mid & North Branch

Introduction

Welcome to the website for the Essex Mid & North Branch of the RSPCA. In this website you will find information about our veterinary clinics, our fundraising through our four shops and be able to see the link to the Rescue and Rehoming centre that cares for all our dogs and cats ready for rehoming. We will also let you see details of our people and what motivated them to work for the RSPCA. We will post relevant news items here as well as on Facebook.

Our Branch Merger in 2020

One of the biggest things for us, is that we used to be two separate branches and have now merged to form one large team with a joint membership. We now have two veterinary clinics and cover a large geographical area under one branch. We are due to restart our newsletter shortly and there will be a link on the website to download a copy when it is ready

Ways to get involved

RSPCA branches are self funded so we need your help to be able to help other animals:

Volunteers help us in our shops, in the reception of clinics, and fundraising on our behalf

Please donate things to us for us to sell

Also, please remember the saying “Adopt Don’t Shop” when it comes to your next family pet. We rehome many dogs and cats every year

Sometimes we need foster homes for very needy or unwell animals, and will publicise when we need help.

How donating helps

Donating money helps us to run welfare vet clinics, and to care for neglected animals to get them ready for homes

Donating goods keeps our charity shops stocked so that we can raise money for the pets in our care

Pet food donations help to feed those animals in boarding and foster that we care for. You may find a donation bin for pet food in your local supermarket – often labelled for Danaher who are our rehoming partner

This makes a huge difference in helping us to run our clinics and pay for boarding and medical treatment for the animals in our care before they are rehomed.

In 2021 Mid & North Essex took in and rehomed 274 cats and dogs in the year and we could not have done it without you

What is the difference between National RSPCA and the Branch

National RSPCA were the first charity to introduce a law to protect animals and work hard to ensure that all animals can live free from pain and suffering.

They campaign to raise standards of care, and awareness of issues, affecting animals today.

There are about 150 branches and we are one of those.

We are proud to be able to help animals. Throughout the site you will see links to the national website rather than the local branch as they often have more detailed information

Services Offered:
We offer a welfare veterinary clinic to those clients who meet our qualifying criteria of being in receipt of specified benefits (see Clinic page). This includes consultation and basic veterinary services for illness or injury. We also cover microchipping, neutering, vaccinations, dental work and basic surgery
